Dear friends,
We had an enlightening Legislative meeting yesterday. The minutes will come later. We also discussed our upcoming Game Day for Monday April 11.
Yesterday, Laura told us Shelia Segerson was in hospice. Later in the day, Laura informed of Shelia’s death. My first Alpha Sigma meeting was at Shelia’s home. She was a never-ending ball of energy. Being with her was always exciting.
I want to encourage us to sign up for small groups. As of now, we have 5 groups: Gardening, Civil Rights Trail, Lunch, Dinner, and Other. People have signed up already. Let me know if you are interested and I will add you to a list. Then, I will ask someone on that list to arrange a small gathering. It really sounds exciting! This is an excellent way to get to know your fellow members.
There is an upcoming small group for sisters interesting in attending our convention at Sewanee June 2-4. This small group will meet at McAllister’s on Hwy 64 in near Olive Garden. The meeting will be at 11:30. If we sign up together, we can room with or near each other and sign up for the same meals. We also like to car pool.
New officers, please sign up for training before April 23. Training is May 7 at Southside HS in Jackson.
The International Convention is July 12-16 in New Orleans! Sign up on the TN DKG website tndkg.org. Take the train down and make it a real experience!
Our Area DKG meeting is April 23. (You received an email from me regarding this on March 7, if you want further information. Call Trish to pay for the meal and make a reservation. The meal is $27.00 and you must write on your check your choice of chicken or pork. This will be a wonderful meeting!
Our DKG Mission Statement: “The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.”
This is Women’s History Month. I was blessed with another grandchild Tuesday! Annie Therese (Annie Reece)! Now I have 5 girls and 1 boy! Babies are given a test shortly after birth, the Apgar. Virginia Apgar, an anesthesiologist, invented it. I am always so encouraged with the amazing women in Alpha Sigma and Delta Kappa Gamma. You are awesome in what have done and are doing! My life is enriched by knowing you!
“May your troubles be less,
Your blessings be more,
And nothing but happiness come through your door.”
