Thanks to Kelli Beach for decorating her lovely home and hosting our festive holiday “White Elephant and Teddy Bears Christmas Brunch”!
Sonja Glaser opened our meeting with a message of sorrow for the tornado damage and COVID but turned it to a reminder that this is a time for rejoicing!
Linda Porter inspired us with a lesson on how to celebrate the holidays when you are far from home, like in Nairobi! Who doesn’t love a live nativity with an elephant! Embrace the season, “Celebrate being in each other’s presence not just the presents.” Betty performed our Induction Ceremony. We are blessed to have two new friends and "helpers in life” as she said. Carol Richardson sponsored Tiffany Ray and Pat Spencer sponsored Sharon Blair. Welcome new sister friends! It was very Christmassy lighting red candles by the fireplace and super special to add new names to the book that holds 60 years of Alpha Sigma members!
We discussed upcoming conventions: TN State Convention will be back at Sewanee the first weekend in June. We all need to go for the Ceremony of Remembrance so we can stand up for Emily Ferguson. The International Convention will be in New Orleans the weekend of July 22. We are already talking about riding down on the train. Deborah McDurmon taught us a quick craft - making cute teddy bears out of wash cloths. Kelli shared the meaning of the empty Christmas gift under her tree. We had fun exchanging White Elephant gifts and ate a delicious smorgasbord of food! I want to add that Sheila Segerson has moved back home where she can be with her dog Romeo.
Merry Christmas sweet sister friends!
Love,
Laura
