Attending the meeting were: Martha Baker, Sonja Glaser, Emily Johnson, Deborah McDurmon, Betty Only, Courtney Page, Pat Spencer, and Trish Stephenson.
Sonja is still looking for someone to take over planning the meetings/1st Vice President. If you know of someone please email or call her and let her know.
Trish Stephenson is ready to take on the role of Treasurer and will be the person collecting chapter dues. Once she is the “designated” treasurer she will have access to the online program. This should happen very soon.
Deborah brought up having some type of Officer Installation via Zoom since we can’t meet in person. No formal vote is needed. There are also two 30 year members to recognize: Kaye Aldridge and Jacque Higdon.
Martha mentioned there are no new members to induct and Betty volunteered to call and talk to any potential new members if anyone has someone to recommend. Betty also has a couple of potential new members she is talking to about membership. Trish confirmed that at anytime a new member can join, pay dues and be active. We can have an informal induction ceremony once we are able to meet in person. This can be a simple gathering at a restaurant. Betty mentioned that the red folders (containing DKG welcoming info) aren’t given out anymore.
Martha is organizing gifts for the six Brinkley Heights graduates. There are four boys and two girls. So far we have insulated cups, devotionals - My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. We are hoping to get $50 Target gift cards for each graduate. We hope to ask Kelley Beach to add a book plate and note of congratulations and encouragement to each devotional. We aren’t sure if BH will do a drive by or virtual graduation, but it is scheduled for Friday, May 7 at 6pm. Gift bags need to be ready by May 6. Martha will deliver to the school and will contact Casey to get this scheduled. More items can be added to the bags if members would like to contribute something. Some ideas mentioned were little soaps, key chains, baseball caps, and small snack items. Items just need to be alike and brought to Martha by May 6 or to Deborah by May 4 and she will take to Martha. If someone wants to order items from Amazon they can do so and have them mailed to Martha.
We discussed voting for spending chapter money to buy the Target gift cards. All attending were in favor but it was decided that the members not in attendance should be given the opportunity to vote via email. Deborah will send an email asking members to respond. Quorum will be determined and vote decided.
Betty Only has scrubbies available for purchase. She has many available since we weren’t able to sell them at the State Conference. Please contact her if you would like to purchase some.
Dues are due to National by June 30. We would like to have chapter dues by June 15-22. The dues are $80 made payable to Alpha Sigma and can be sent to Trish Stephenson.
Officers for the new year are: President - Sonja Glaser; 1st Vice President - Deborah McDurmon (Deborah would like for us to find someone to do this job. She has agreed to fill-in until someone is found; 2nd Vice President - Debbie Wooley; Corresponding Secretary - Kelley Beach; Co-Recording Secretaries - Laura Evans and Courtney Page; Treasurer - Trish Stephenson; Parliamentarian - Trish Stephenson.
Another Zoom meeting will be scheduled for after the Brinkley Heights graduation.
Respectfully Submitted,
Courtney Page
