We had a great meeting on Saturday! It was so good to see everyone who came, and we all hope those who were missing can be there next time.
We began working through some learning modules, which will help us know more about DKG and earn Maycie points for the chapter. If you can't be at the meetings, but want to participate in this activity, please go to the state website, tndkg.org, look under Resources, then Chapter Training Videos. You can watch the power point presentation, or print the transcript to read. Print the activity sheet and fill it out, then you can email it to the address listed in the information, or you can mail it to me and I will email it for you. You will need your member number to put on the activity sheet.
The other activity we did on Saturday was to read the poem "Where I'm From" by George Ella Lyon. We each shared one line of our own "where I'm from" story. Now we all have homework. We are asking each member to write her own poem. It can look like George Ella's in style, if you wish, but does not have to. I have attached the handouts from our meeting, which include websites where you can find more information.
We would like each member to write her own poem and bring it to our December meeting where we will share all of our poems. We will then combine them into a book for each member to have. If you have any questions, please email or call me. I am very excited about this project and hope each of you will be too.
We are planning our September meeting and hope to have a date/location for you soon.
Looking forward...
Kelly
