Hello Sister Friends,
It is spring and I am sneezing like crazy! Hope you all are enjoying the weather. This Saturday at 11 am is our Planning and Plant Swap meeting at my house. Don't bring your suit though, the pool is not open yet. Bring your ideas for next year and your appetite, sounds like we are going to have a lot of good food. Thanks to Judy for planning the refreshments for our meetings these past two years!
I forwarded the minutes of our fun Founders' Day Celebration. Linda did a wonderful job again. I appreciate her conscientiousness all through this biennium!
Betty would love any photos you may have taken at our Game Day fundraiser. If you have them please send to Betty, Debbie and Phyllis.
Thinking back on those meetings brings me great joy! We have had so many good times together. Thanks to Sheila for organizing all our 'edutaining' programs!
Judy, Sheila and I are rolling off the Alpha Sigma board next month and while we have enjoyed it I am sure we all feel a sense of relief with the satisfaction of having done it. Deborah has done a great job on the yearbook and of keeping us notified of upcoming events but instead of taking a break she is stepping into Presidential shoes! Linda won't be recording minutes of our meetings but will take on the correspondence (sending those handy monthly reminders). Judi Sipowicz will be recording secretary now. Martha and Pat have served long and well as Membership chairwomen but now Emily and Betty will take over that chore. Trish will be planning programs for us over the next couple years. Debbie will put our yearbook together as well as continuing to update our chapter website. I will be Parliamentarian as tradition dictates. Penny has been our treasurer for so many years I am sure she is anxious to hand off that job to someone ... anyone? I am so proud and thankful to these "Key Women Educators" for their leadership and dedication to DKG and Alpha Sigma.
I also want to brag on the fine job Kay has done chairing the Memphis Coordinating Council. Martha has done an excellent job as secretary for that team. And soon Deborah will serve as our chapter representative. The MCC meets every three months, reports on chapter activities and plans the two events we hold collectively. We are well represented on that council!
I had a hard time with our Chapter Excellence report this year and the Society has been very kind and understanding about it. We had so many points last year, more than enough to earn a Gold medal. This year the form was updated and just didn't offer as many opportunities to show off our excellence! When I turned it in (on time at least) I thought we were going to receive Honorary Mention. I have gotten two emails since then. One said we were up for Bronze and another said Silver! All that is to say that we are up for some kind of award but it will be a surprise which one. Finding out will make Xi State even more exciting. 🌹
Thank you for your participation. I look forward to seeing you Saturday.
Love you all!
Laura
